NEW YORK — The Accessories Council is ready to paint the town again.

On Nov. 3, a mix of vendors, retail executives, celebrities and editors is expected to descend upon Cipriani at 110 East 42nd Street here for the seventh annual, black-tie Accessories Council Awards gala.

“This is an industry filled with innovative, creative and talented people that really deserve their own recognition,” said Sheila Block, executive director of the Accessories Council.

That evening, the nonprofit organization that supports the industry will hand out the ACE awards, which stands for Accessories Council Excellence. The ballot was compiled by fashion editors, and was followed by voting from Accessories Council members, retailers, industry executives and editors. There are five categories, including Designer of the Year, Best Advertising Campaign and “It” Accessory of the Year.

“We are honored to give Coach the Hall of Fame award, and Echo Design Group a special recognition for 80 years of being in business,” added Block.

Sponsors include Cadillac, Avon, Swarovski, QVC, In Style, Safilo Group, Ghurka and WWD. Some of the event’s proceeds will go to Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a nonprofit AIDS fund-raising and grant-making organization. Here, a look at the nominees in the five categories, plus the winner of the 2003 Hall of Fame award.
