California surfers and Verbier skiers met in Achtland’s fall collection, which crossed long-underwear styling, bulky cable motifs and icy white hues with a dash of L.A. Barbie pink, aquatic blues and an appliquéd lace that reminded creative director Oliver Lühr of sun glistening over the ocean.
One of Berlin’s most up-market labels and now in its third season, Achtland is known for luxurious fabrics worked in fairly low-key cuts for a well-bred yet youthful allure. This time, cables were handwoven in leather strips on a bulky cardigan, or deconstructed into a pixilated print running down the front of a body-skimming dress and across the yoke of a top in a Loro Piana stretch wool with a distinct neoprene feel. The sun-on-water lace was fashioned into a simple top or worked down the sleeves, boat neck and front panel bib of a relaxed evening gown.
Peter Kim's Los Angeles-based premium denim line has always had its finger on the pulse of youth. This season, novelty is back in a way reminiscent of early Aughts, with studs, lace-ups, racing waxed denim and more. "I was driving back on Saturday afternoon from the beach, and I just saw this sign saying 'Skydiving for $95.' And I was like, I can't not sky dive for $95," says Tom Bateman about a moment in Hawaii while shooting "Snatched." #wwdeye (📷: @vsteves; Interview by @ktauer; Styled by @thealexbadia)
