Adidas has inked an 11-year, global merchandising deal with the National Basketball Association to replace Reebok, its newly acquired division, as the league’s official uniform and apparel supplier. Financial terms were not disclosed.
In addition, the German company has secured the rights to design, produce and market NBA branded apparel and footwear in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia. “This deal will immediately give us tremendous visibility in the U.S., and the chance to spread the NBA brand around the world – especially in Asia,” said Erich Stamminger, president and chief executive of Adidas, during a news conference here today.
