The great-grandson of a Spanish cobbler, Alejandro Ingelmo has shoemaking in his blood. He sees his creations as a kind of armor, this season wrapping the calf in cherry red leather and bedecking an ankle in silver hardware. A hint of bondage runs through his designs, though sex appeal is only one of several aesthetics Ingelmo likes to run with. He recently has expanded into bags and men’s shoes — the former executed in the designer’s trademark metallic waffle-weave pattern — and thus shown himself to have more than just ladies’ heels in his repertoire.
