In resort, versatility is everything. After all, a girl’s got an entire day’s-worth of activities to be perfectly dressed for, whether it be lounging, lunching or dancing. Both John Galliano of Christian Dior and Narciso Rodriguez have it covered. At Dior, Galliano went for urban glamour, mixing high style with a tougher utilitarian edge. There were ruffled skirts layered over cargo pants, sleek bikinis with metal studs and lame suits with suede stitching, all in a basic palette of military greens and muted khakis. Rodriguez, meanwhile, showed more of his polished sensuality. “I’m focused on fit and proportion,” he said, and accordingly he offered a range of slim halter dresses, color-blocked off-the-shoulder looks and lean, light-weight skirts.
