American Eagle Outfitters Inc. said Tuesday its first store will open in Israel on Thursday at Ramat Aviv Mall, in Tel Aviv.

The teen retailer said 10 more stores are planned over the next month in locations such as The Big Mall in Petach Tikva, Kiryat Ono Mall and Mall of Haifa. The franchise stores will be operated by Fox-Wizel Ltd., a retailer and wholesaler in the region.

American Eagle has been expanding its international presence for the past three years. It now has 21 stores in 10 countries, partnering with retail operators in each region. It currently has franchise stores in Russia, China, Hong Kong and in other cities throughout the Middle East.

Next up will be its first stores in Japan, which are slated to open in the coming months.

The retailer also has an international presence through its e-commerce site, which began shipping internationally in 2004. It ships to over 77 countries, with Italy the latest one to join.
