NEW YORK — On the same day it was announced that Kellwood offered to buy Anne Klein’s parent, Kasper ASL, Anne Klein also said it is extending its stable of accessories.
The firm said it has signed licensing deals for two new product categories: legwear and umbrellas. Legwear will be made by Leg Resource Inc. and will include a range of socks, tights and hosiery for fall under the Anne Klein New York label, while AK Anne Klein and AK Sport lines will bow for spring 2004.
Umbrellas and rain accessories, meanwhile, are being made by Liberty Umbrellas for the Anne Klein New York and AK Anne Klein labels. The line will feature folding and stick styles in solids and prints designed to coordinate with the brand’s sportswear offerings.
Anne Klein’s accessories products include handbags, now made in-house, as well as licensed watches, eyewear, cold-weather accessories, footwear, scarves and belts. Sales projections for the two new categories were not revealed, but the company’s total accessories accounted for about $200 million in sales in 2002.
