MILAN — Giorgio Armani has officially elevated his fashion style to new heights.

Confirming a WWD report on Wednesday, the Italian designer said he will stage an off-calendar show for 300 special guests, including VIP clients, on Jan. 24 during Paris Couture Week. The location has yet to be revealed.

A small portion of the 50 styles that will be shipped to Paris appeared in the finale of Armani’s signature spring-summer 2005 runway show in Milan in October, but the majority will be new designs.

Set on carving a niche for his name in the world of couture, Armani said the new project is a natural evolution of the superelaborate eveningwear for which he is known. “Each season, I have presented a small number of extremely special dresses in my ready-to-wear collections. It therefore seems a natural progression to expand this point of view into the Giorgio Armani Atelier collection and bring it to Paris, ” he said in a statement.

Armani added that the collection was conceived for a certain type of client who demands an item of unique quality, produced according to the standards of haute couture but with the accessibility, ease and modernity that characterizes Giorgio Armani’s philosophy of fashion. The final price tags are still in the works.

A company spokesman confirmed that the fashion company is currently strengthening its in-house infrastructure, where Armani’s seamstresses will handcraft the clothes.

After Paris, the Giorgio Armani Atelier collection will be presented in other major cities, including New York, London and Hong Kong.
