WARNER BROS. TO OPEN OFFICE IN HAMBURG

NEW YORK--As part of a strategy to expand licensing operations in Europe, Warner Bros. Consumer Products is opening a sales and marketing office in Hamburg, Germany, at the beginning of 1997.
The company, which licenses Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny, Sylvester, Tweety and Tasmanian Devil, had been working with Agent Merchandising Munchen since 1979. Warner Bros. decided that it could better service its European licensees and retail partners more efficiently with its own office.
"Merchandising Munchen has done an outstanding job representing us for a long time, but as the European licensing market continues to grow, we think it is essential to have our own office in the very important German market," George Jones, president of Warner Bros. Worldwide Licensing, said in a statement.
The office will be in Hamburg, where other Warner Bros. divisions have European headquarters.
