RENE LEZARD REPORTEDLY READY TO SIGN SOHO LEASE

NEW YORK--Rene Lezard is close to signing a lease for its first U.S. store, a 2,500-square-foot site at 417 West Broadway in SoHo, sources said Thursday.
The site, between Prince and Spring Streets, formerly housed the Mary Boone Gallery.
"We are ready to sign a lease," said Wouter Germans, the building's owner.
Rene Lezard, based in Germany, designs simple, soft dressing for women and men. The line is carried at Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue in New York.
Klaas de Weerth, Rene Lezard's president, would only say that the company has been looking for space in SoHo and "nothing has been signed yet."
SoHo has become a magnet for designers and national chains looking for retail space. Donna Karan, for example, is negotiating a lease at 387 Broadway, for a DKNY flagship, and J. Crew is moving in the Chateau Marmont New York on Prince Street opening in November.
Germans said his property has attracted the interest of several European designers, including Gucci, Fendi and Dolce & Gabbana.
