NEW YORK--The Neiman Marcus Group Inc., continuing its string of robust monthly sales, reported same-store sales climbed 6.8 percent in the five weeks ended June 29.
Same-store sales for the upscale retailer, based in Chestnut Hill, Mass., increased 16.4 percent in February, 6.7 percent in March, 6.3 percent in April and 6.4 percent in May.
The June gain was led by a high, single-digit, same-store increase at Neiman Marcus stores, according to an NMG spokesman. The Bergdorf Goodman men's store registered a high, single-digit sales gain, but sales at Bergdorf Goodman, including the women's store, rose in the mid-single digits.
Overall sales in June for the company rose 11.6 percent to $180 million from $161.3 million. NM Direct catalog's sales were off slightly, but generally in line with plan, the company said.
Sales in the 48 weeks ended June 29 rose 8.8 percent to $1.93 billion from $1.77 billion, and same-store sales were up 5.6 percent.
