SAKS, ITC JOIN IN EFFORT TO PITCH ITALIAN FASHIONS

NEW YORK--Saks Fifth Avenue and the Italian Trade Commission are teaming up for a fall Moda Made in Italy promotion, highlighted by a fashion show and dinner at Saks' store in San Francisco on Sept. 13.
It marks the second year Saks and the ITC have worked together to promote Italian fashions.
Saks will also host in-store events, such as informal fashion presentations, in at least 20 other stores, including New York, Beverly Hills and Chicago, this fall. It also will distribute separate men's and women's catalogs featuring Italian-made designer, bridge and private label apparel, accessories and footwear. Except for private label, the merchandise will not be exclusive to Saks, said an ITC spokeswoman.
Citing its efforts to bring new Italian resources to the store, Rose Marie Bravo, Saks president, says it will send buyers to Italy in September specifically to source new lines.
