SIMINT JEANS MADE FOR ARMANI, AMERICAN SYSTEMS STOLEN IN ITALY

MILAN--A truck loaded with unfinished Armani Jeans and American System jeans produced by apparel maker Simint SpA was robbed at gunpoint June 26, while stopped near the city of Ancona.
A Simint spokeswoman confirmed the news Tuesday, the same day Simint took out a paid advertisement in the Milan daily Corriere della Sera, asking for anyone with information to contact the Modena-based company. The gunman escaped with the full contents of the truck: 9,588 pairs of jeans worth about $183,000 (300 million lire). The truck and the driver were unharmed.
"The important thing is that Simint is going to be able to replace the stolen merchandise in time to meet delivery requirements," the spokeswoman said. Simint is majority controlled by Giorgio Armani SpA.
