DUPONT HIKING SOME NYLON PRICES

WILMINGTON, Del.--DuPont said Wednesday that it has begun notifying its customers that it is increasing prices of selected fine denier partially oriented nylon yarns used mainly in legwear applications by 7 to 12 percent, effective with shipments of May 27.
DuPont officials said the increase was due mainly to substantial gains in raw materials costs.
While DuPont recently announced a 5 to 7 percent price increase for nylon used in various warp and circular knit applications, the last POY increase was in December 1989.
