NEW YORK — Oscar de la Renta Ltd. is stretching out globally, with plans announced Monday for two boutiques set to open in November in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The company last week also opened an in-store men’s boutique in London, its first such venture in that city, in the Dickens & Jones store on Regent Street. The 400-square-foot shop offers Oscar de la Renta Pour Homme, the designer’s men’s wear collection produced under license in Milan by Hitman.
During de la Renta’s trip to London for the shop opening, he finalized a three-year licensing agreement with PT Inti Fashindo International, a Jakarta-based holding company that represents commercial sites in the Far East. In Jakarta, women’s ready-to-wear and accessories will be offered in a shop at the Hyatt Galleria and men’s apparel and accessories will be available in a boutique in the city’s Senayan Square shopping complex. Sizes of the shops were not available.
“We are just now establishing a momentum, which will accelerate towards my goal to offer a complete line of luxury products for men and women,” de la Renta said in a statement. To mark his entrance into the Indonesian market, de la Renta will stage a December runway show in Jakarta.
In-store shops are also planned for Jakarta and the company is looking to further develop its business in Asia, Australia, Latin America and Europe, according to Carmine Porcelli, director of licensing.
