NEW YORK--Revlon International, the overseas division of Revlon Consumer Products Corp., has formed a joint venture to enter India and nearby markets, the company said Monday.
The joint venture, called Modi-Revlon, has been formed with Modi Mundipharma, a Delhi-based firm.
According to Paul J. Block, chairman of Revlon International, Modi-Revlon will begin distributing Revlon's core beauty products--including Charlie fragrances and Flex Shampoo--in the second quarter of next year in India.
Later in 1995, the distribution will be expanded to include Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Nepal.
In India, distribution will consist of about 20 department store doors in four cities, and the more common sundry stores, or general merchandise retailers, which number about 30,000 units, Block estimated.
