NEW YORK--Bridget Foley has been named fashion editor of WWD and W. Foley, who was an associate editor of WWD and senior editor, beauty and features, for W, joined Fairchild Publications in 1983 as a market editor covering junior sportswear. Since then, she has covered a wide range of markets for both publications. Foley succeeds Liz Gessner, who is leaving to spend more time with her family. Gessner will also freelance some special projects for W. She joined WWD in 1985 and covered a variety of markets, including children's wear, better fabrics, accessories and beauty, before being named fashion editor in 1989. The change is effective Thursday.
