"It was a hot show," said Allison Spears of Emporio Armani. She was one of about 450 of San Francisco's best-dressed women who poured into the tent high above Union Square at I. Magnin's to see the "Opening Nights Show," featuring fall entrance-makers from Chanel, Gianfranco Ferré, Giorgio Armani and Herve Leger. But it wasn't the temperature in the sauna-like tent that Spears was referring to--it was the clothes.
"We wanted to put something together that would appeal to all women," explained I. Magnin vice president Adrienne Hoyer. "We took into consideration their different lifestyles and needs. And when you go to the opera this year, you will see a more modern mix--short dresses, long dresses, ball gowns and pants."
