CONOVER'S NEW STATE OF MIND: HMS Productions, a New York women's sportswear and ready-to-wear manufacturer, has launched a new dress division for fall with a line designed by Kathryn Conover. The collection will be distributed under the label KC State of Mind.
Projected volume for the line is $10 million, according to Hale Alpern, chairman of HMS. Fall knits wholesale for $49 to $69, while more embellished holiday items sell for $59 to $99. Base fabrics for KC State of Mind, which is at 250 West 39th St., New York, include rayon, silk and chiffon.
Conover was most recently dress design director at Liz Claiborne Inc. Prior to that, she was an owner of Kathryn Conover, a dress firm here that is no longer in business.

MILLER'S LAUNCHING: Misho has launched its first collection of moderate-priced dresses. The company is at 530 Seventh Ave., New York. The 60-piece line wholesales for $59 to $139.
The company was formed by Douglas Miller, who resigned in March from Adrianna Papell Inc., where he was principal and president of its Adam Douglas division. Miller has named Richard Shor, former national sales manager of Adrianna Papell, vice president, secretary and treasurer of Misho. Jack Fuller has joined the company as designer. Projected first-year volume for the new company is $6 million, Miller said.
