The social scene in the Hamptons is even more important than the sea air--and it will be particularly true this coming weekend. The parties will get going on Friday night with the premiere of "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert" at the Sag Harbor Cinema. The screening is hosted by Peter Beard, Griffin Dunne, Marc Jacobs and Todd Oldham. Those expected at the party afterward at the Amazon Deck at the Long Wharf Marina include Marisa Tomei, Donna Karan, Kenneth Cole, Nina Griscom Baker, David Salle, Tatum O'Neal, Alex Lind and Alexandra Miller. On Saturday, Rita and Ian Schrager are having a party to celebrate their recent nuptials, and Beth Rudin DeWoody, along with Susan Weber Soros and Sheila Wolfe, will host a cocktail party at her house for the Parrish Art Museum. Over at the East Hampton airport, a fashion crowd, including Calvin and Kelly Klein, Donna Karan, Ralph and Ricki Lauren, Carlos Falchi and Yeohlee, are expected for the Take Off Flight '94 benefit for the Long Island Association for AIDS Care (LIAAC). And before people head back to the city on Sunday, many will stop by the Grey Dunes Estate in Bellport for the annual Sunday by the Bay benefit for Long Island AIDS organizations.
While the party machine was in lower gear last weekend, the Hamptons restaurants were just as busy as ever. Ronald Perelman and Patricia Duff had breakfast at the Honest Diner in Amagansett on Friday, Norma Kamali popped in to I Santi in Water Mill, and in East Hampton, Nick & Toni's hosted Stephanie Seymour and Peter Brant, Mary Boone and David Salle, Veronica Webb and Larry Gagosian, and Alan Pakula and Don Hewitt.
After deciding to wear a black halter top and pants for tonight's premiere of "It Could Happen to You," Rosie Perez changed her mind late Friday night. So the folks at Mark Eisen came in from the Hamptons over the weekend to open up the showroom for Perez, who then picked out a very sexy black Lurex halter dress for the event.
