NEW YORK--Saks Fifth Avenue is planning a week-long salute to Yves Saint Laurent when he visits the U.S. for the first time in a decade next month.
On Sept. 13, Saks' chairman Philip Miller and president Rose Marie Bravo will host a cocktail party for Saint Laurent at the flagship here, on the third floor overlooking Fifth Avenue, for Saks' top YSL Rive Gauche clients from around the country, The Fifth Avenue windows will feature 12 styles from Saint Laurent's fall couture collection. It is the first time these will be shown in the U.S. They are for display only, not for sale.
Champagne, the designer's latest women's fragrance, which was launched last spring at Saks, and Rive Gauche apparel will be spotlighted in the remaining windows.
A series of retrospectives throughout the store will highlight Saint Laurent's career. The main-floor atrium will house a collection of tuxedo looks. On the third floor, near the YSL boutique, Saks will feature displays of bridal designs from Saint Laurent's couture and ready-to-wear shows, and some of his favorite evening styles from collections throughout the years.
