By comparison, the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 1.2 percent. Retail stocks falling more than 10 percent included TJX Cos., Kohl's, Filene's Basement, and Proffitt's. Going against the grain, Ann Taylor Stores and Nordstrom rose about 10 percent on robust sales.
