STEVEN SCHATZBERG DEPARTS CERTIFIED TO BE SYNARI VP

Byline: David Moin

NEW YORK--Steven R. Schatzberg, partner and executive vice president of Certified Fashion Guild buying office, has resigned to become vice president and principal of the casual bottoms unit of Synari Fashions.
The division, launched last June for fall shipments, has two lines: Maren Sport for misses' and Synari Sport for juniors. Schatzberg starts his new job today and is in charge of merchandising and sales. "It's a brand new spot to really grow the business," Schatzberg said.
The other partners in the division are Haynes Holding and Synari Fashions. Synari also operates David N., better sportswear line. The firm sells to department stores, including Dillard Department Stores, Federated Department Stores and J.C. Penney, as well as specialty chains.
Schatzberg said he was with Certified for more than eight years and decided to leave to work in "a more creative side of the industry." He was responsible for sportswear and imports. He said his departure was "amicable" and he plans to "push business their way." He said Certified had no plans for a successor.
