From museums to dance companies to individual artists, the arts have been in focus in New York in recent days.
As part of its 125th anniversary celebration, the Museum of Natural History hosted a Family Party amid many of its exhibits.
"It's great. It reminds you of the first time you came here and discovered all these things," said Peter Gallagher, who was strolling through the museum with his wife, Paula, and son, Jamey.

For Lily Whitall, the evening was about a fairly elegant birthday.
