NEW YORK--MTV's got the goods on home shopping. The Goods, it was announced Friday, will be the name of the electronic retailing test that MTV Networks and Fingerhut Co. plan to begin on Aug. 13. The home shopping test will consist of 30- and 60-minute programs appearing on MTV, VH1 and Nick at Nite. Products will range from music-related items to fashion. If the test is a success, it could lead to a stand-alone shopping channel, MTV executives said. As reported, the network has lined up some of SA's elite, including Isaac Mizrahi, Anna Sui, Marc Jacobs and Todd Oldham. Cindy Crawford will represent the shopping programming in ads and promotions. The Goods' first show on MTV will be a merchandising tie-in to the Woodstock '94 event. Items such as dog tags and all-weather outerwear, priced from $20 to $125, will be offered.
