NEW YORK--James G. Held has been named president and chief executive officer of Adrienne Vittadini Inc.
He steps into the post left by Richard Catalano over a year ago. Catalano left to become president and ceo of Episode USA, the bridge retail and wholesale company.
Held, 41, is joining Vittadini from QVC, the television home shopping channel, where he was executive vice president of merchandising, sales and product planning. QVC has not yet named a successor.
From 1983 to 1993, Held had various merchandising posts at Bloomingdale's. He starts at Vittadini on Jan. 10.
In his new post at the bridge sportswear company, he will oversee all wholesale, retail and licensing. The company plans to aggressively expand its product mix, according to a spokeswoman for the company. Current licenses include footwear, scarves, handbags, bed and bath, eyewear and swimwear. Vittadini's wholesale volume for this year, including licenses, exceeded $150 million, according to industry sources.
New products include an expanded home furnishings lineup and a fragrance launch slated for this spring.
Held will report to Adrienne Vittadini, designer and chairman, and Gianluigi Vittadini, vice chairman and treasurer, who is the designer's husband.
