SILBERSTEIN JOINS THE NEW YORKER

NEW YORK--Diane Silberstein was named Friday as senior vice president and publisher of The New Yorker. She had been publisher of Elle since December 1992.
Silberstein succeeds Law-rence Burstein, who became publishing director of Esquire in August. She reports to Thomas A. Florio, president of The New Yorker.
Prior to joining Elle, Silberstein was ad director of Allure.
Her successor at Elle has not yet been named.
