NEW YORK--Benetton Group reported a joint venture agreement has been signed with the Chinese textile group Lion to produce apparel in China. The announcement made in Italy indicated the deal includes building a factory by the end of 1995 to produce 1.5 million apparel units yearly, all to be sold in China. Benetton, which currently has 20 stores in China, plans to have 300 stores in China by the end of 1997 and 500 by the end of the decade.
