NEW YORK--Michael Matthews, executive creative director of Saks Fifth Avenue, has been promoted to the new post of vice president, creative director of the specialty store chain. Matthews continues to report to Sheri Wilson-Gray, senior vice president, marketing and public relations at Saks. Matthews, whose specialty is direct mail, joined Saks in December 1993, prior to which he was vice president, creative director at Dillard Department Stores. Earlier, he served as vice president, creative director of Neiman Marcus and executive art director of its catalog division. Reporting to Matthews is Rebecca Young, executive creative director, who oversees the creative functions for Saks advertising.
