NEW YORK--Bill Blass has been on a roll with trunk shows this year. The designer recently concluded two trunk shows at Saks Fifth Avenue here and in Bala Cynwyd, Pa., that together brought in over $1 million in spring orders.
Each show topped $500,000, according to Saks.
At the flagship, top sellers included a two-piece black and white evening suit in pin-dot silk faille, with fitted jacket and A-line skirt, selling eight units at $3,930. For day, a two-piece beige small-check suit with double-breasted blazer and pleated skirt sold nine units at $3,120, and a double-faced pale pink jacket and slim skirt sold five units at $3,020.
The trunk show ran Nov. 28 through Dec. 2, with a fashion show on Nov. 29 that raised $33,000 for the Boys Club of New York. The Bala Cynwyd trunk show ran Nov. 21-23.
Blass established a new high for a trunk show at the Saks flagship in May, with fall orders for his women's ready-to-wear hitting $750,000.
That event led a fall trunk show spree that hauled in $350,000 at Bergdorf Goodman and $500,000 at Neiman Marcus.
