ATLANTA — Motoi Oyama has been appointed president and representative director of Asics Corporation, succeeding Kyomi Wada, who was named chairman and representative of the Kobe, Japan-based active sportwear and footwear company.

Previously, Oyama was chairman, representative director and CEO of Asics Europe B.V.

The company said Oyama, 57, was promoted to this position to further enhance its corporate values by responding quickly to the changes in the sporting goods market. Asics said he will also work to continue to fuel the momentum of Asics’ growing brand position in the global marketplace.
