Launched 11 years ago, British online retailer ASOS (originally an acronym for “as seen on screen”) is now a household label in the U.S. On Tuesday the firm presented its branded collection for fall (its first on models), which fashion director Caren Downie described as “all about optimism and fun.” And it showed — especially with the festive lurex bubble skirt paired with green lurex leggings and a royal blue sweater, as well as several party dresses and skirts in allover sequins, which were inspired, Downie said, by early Lacroix. Vintage is a constant inspiration for the ASOS, so there are maxidresses in floral prints and plaid flannels, and a sweet little cotton dress with Nordic embroidery.
