NEW YORK — Avon is adding a new tune to the “Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer” program in the form of a fund-raising concert.

The first “Avon Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer” concert will be held Monday, Sept. 23, at Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center. Tickets for the hour-and-a-half-long concert will go on sale beginning Aug. 10 at $35, $50 and $75 each. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade, whose purpose is to find a cure and fund access to care.

The major talent for the concert will be announced Aug. 23.

Leelee Sobieski and Star Jones will co-host the awards ceremony preceding the concert, which will honor individuals and companies that have made contributions to the cause in the following categories: media leadership, community advocate, medical advancement and public policy, which was added this year. The Pink Ribbon Award will be presented to a representative for her work in supporting the Crusade.

Another component of the campaign, the “Kiss Goodbye” Lipstick line, will be available in September. The collection is drawn from the company’s best-selling Brilliant Moisture Lipcolor, with the six top-selling shades renamed in honor of the crusade —?Courageous Coral, Cherub Cheer, Brave Brocade, Crusade Rose, Determined Red and Spice of Life. Each lipstick is priced at $4 and is available through representatives nationwide, by calling (800) FOR-AVON or on avoncrusade.com.

A centerpiece of the Crusade is the Avon Breast Cancer 3-Day, a series of three-day, 60-mile fund-raising walks. The walk, which started in 1998 with one event in Los Angeles, has grown to 13 events for 2002 that will run from April through October in cities including Washington, D.C., Chicago, San Francisco, New York and Los Angeles. Avon also has a new print public service announcement campaign that focuses on a breast cancer early education and detection message worldwide. The ad will run in women’s and health magazines.

Since 1992, Avon has raised $190 million to support the breast cancer cause and other health issues that affect women. Andrea Jung, Avon’s chairman and chief executive officer, announced the company’s new goal of reaching $250 million for the cause by the end of 2002.
