Textured ponytails flowed from under hats at Marc by Marc Jacobs Tuesday afternoon and lips were colored bright pink.
“It’s just a ponytail,” said hairstylist Guido Palau, who was working on behalf of Redken and went with ponytails to complement the hats in the fashion collection. “It’s easy. I used some lotion to texturize the hair.
“When using hats, it’s nice to have a rougher texture,” added Palau, “so, it’s not too neat.”
Makeup artist Dick Page, who was not affiliated with a brand, applied to the lips a bright pink hue, a Shiseido lip color prototype that he speculated may be on the market next year. Page said he was inspired by accessories in the show and added the pink lip would look “cool” with the likes of sunglasses, hats and veils.
Closer to show time, Page went over the base color with pink powder to create a “matte and Technicolor” effect. A touch of mascara and pale gold Inoui ID highlight around the eyes rounded out the look.
