NEW YORK — Movado sponsored the ninth annual Career Transition for Dancers Gala, which supports dancers ready to move on to their next careers, on Oct. 27.

Held at the City Center in New York, the gala was themed Gotta Dance: A Dance Tribute to Hollywood, and featured 14 performances with highlights including Sweet Charity’s Big Spender by Bebe Neuwirth and Ann Reinking and Swan Lake’s Act III Pas de Deux by The Royal Ballet’s Alina Cojocaru and Johan Kobborg. Special awards were given to Fayard Nicholas, Cyd Charisse, Turner Entertainment Co. and the late Donald O’Connor.

“It makes sense for Movado to support not only dance companies and performances, but to also make a contribution to supporting the dancers and their lives after their dance careers have come to an end,” said Gedalio “Gerry” Grinberg, chairman of Movado Group.

Among those attending the event were Mary Tyler Moore, Esther Williams, Rosie Perez, Marge Champion, Donald Saddler and Lynn Redgrave.
