Guests included veteran actresses and luminaries, such as Isabella Rossellini, Harry Belafonte, Dylan McDermott and Claire Danes, who performed the "Monologues" in 2001 and was debuting a chic black cloche adorned with butterflies. The guests mingled amidst flickering red votives and Barneys’ creative director Simon Doonan’s giant-sized Vs, which in typical tongue-and-cheek fashion were festooned with everything from lips to lobsters.

Designer Eileen Fisher cohosted the event because, she said, she believes in Ensler’s message."What she does for women is changing the world," said Fisher. Meanwhile, Barneys’ ceo Howard Socol was unfazed about missing the Super Bowl. "There’ll be another Super Bowl, but ‘The Vagina Monologues’ will only end once."
