NEW YORK — Walgreen Co. announced a raft of promotions last week, elevating 11 within the ranks of the drug chain.
John W. Gleeson, who was most recently vice president of corporate strategy and treasurer, was named senior vice president of corporate strategy and treasurer; Dana I. Green, who was previously vice president of human resources, was promoted to senior vice president, and Dennis R. O’Dell, who was vice president of health services, was promoted to senior vice president.
In the beauty arena, Frank P. DeStefano was appointed divisional vice president and general merchandise manager of beauty and fashion. He had served as pharmacy manager within the chain. Additionally, David A. Van Howe was promoted to divisional vice president and general merchandise manager of pharmacy health and wellness, and William L. Hubbs was named divisional vice president and general merchandise manager of seasonal and sundry.
Other promotions included Gregory D. Wasson, president of Walgreens Health Initiatives, who was named senior vice president; Douglas P. Egan, who was promoted from director to divisional vice president of marketing services and research, and Garrick J. Hodge, who was promoted from director to divisional vice president of corporate and regulatory law. Also elevated were Robert M. Silverman, who was promoted from director to divisional vice president of real estate law, and Arnold J. Silver, who was promoted to divisional vice president and general merchandise manager of consumables and electronics.

NEW YORK — Bobbi Brown will introduce a lip color kit in February called the V-Day Lip Palette. The item, which retails for $27, contains three shades of red lip colors, a brush and a mirror. At least $50,000 from all net proceeds of sales of the palette will be donated to the V-Day organization, a global movement to end violence against women and girls.
NEW YORK — Crown Risdon has made two appointments to its sales and marketing staff. Claire Santopietro and Marjorie Andrews were named senior account managers at the cosmetics packaging firm. Andrews, a 25-year veteran of the cosmetics industry, was most recently a quality engineer at Risdon. Santopietro, a 30-year veteran of the industry, has spent 25 years with Risdon.Search On for Noxzema Girl
NEW YORK — In a partnership with Ford Models, Procter & Gamble’s Noxzema has launched a contest to find a fresh new face to represent the brand.
Women between the ages of 18 and 34 are invited to submit applications including four photos and a 100-word essay on “why you should be the next Noxzema girl.” The deadline is Jan. 30. Three finalists will be chosen to receive a trip to New York for a private consultation with a Ford Model scout and a photo shoot for a Noxzema ad that will appear in the June issue of Cosmopolitan magazine.
America will decide the ultimate winner through an Internet vote via Noxzema.com that will run from May 14 to June 14.
The victor gets a $25,000 Ford modeling contract, a walk-on role on the P&G-owned soap opera “As the World Turns,” and will be featured in the new Noxzema ad campaign this fall. The winner will be revealed in September.
Previous Noxzema models have included Courteney Cox and Carol Alt.

24-year-old Jean Prounis is redefining the rules of jewelry. Formerly a studio assistant to Jemima Kirke and a design apprentice at Ghuran, she focuses on handcrafted subtleties and ancient goldsmithing techniques. “There was a really sterile feel in the environment and I wanted to have jewelry with character that shapes how you wear it everyday,” Prounis said. Each piece is hand made in New York, either by Prounis or three other jewelers in the district. #wwdfashion
