BERLIN — Berlin’s “cool factor” looks to be getting a literal boost for the spring-summer 2015 season, when Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin will move to the Erika Hess Ice Rink in Berlin Wedding.
Due to a scheduling conflict with the fan mile being set up around the Brandenburg Gate during the soccer world championships in July, IMG Fashion, owner and producer of the fashion week event, was forced to find a new site for the runway shows taking place from July 8 to July 11, 2014.
IMG emphasized this is a “temporary move from the event’s permanent home, Brandenburg Gate.”
“The fashion industry is about change and we love having the ability to do something different for a season,” said Jarrad Clark, vp and global creative director of IMG Fashion Events & Properties.
He suggested the location, which has been tapped for fashion events in the past, will offer designers “the much sought-after room to choose how they wish to present their collections.”
As for the July line-up, IMG said more information will be announced in the coming weeks.
