CHICAGO — Judy Hornby has joined Becky Bisoulis Inc., a maker of special occasion clothes here, as designer and acting president.
Hornby will take over responsibilities that have been held by Becky Bisoulis, president and owner.
Bisoulis has been absent from the business because of illness, according to David Chappelle, executive vice president of the Bisoulis company. He declined to reveal any details about her illness.
Bisoulis is best known for her romantic, lacy, special occasion clothes, and Hornby first gained prominence for her after-five looks.
Hornby, who is based in New York, said that with her new duties she will discontinue her own special occasion dresses but will maintain her bridge sportswear collection, which was introduced for this past spring, and her new outerwear line, which is being launched for fall.
She will travel to Chicago on a weekly basis.
The two designers, both in business since the Seventies, have been friends for about 15 years.
