It's a model life

Starting today, Lacoste is holding a modeling contest for the 100 most remarkable avatars on Second Life. Six of the winners will participate in a virtual photo shoot, and the results will be posted in an online gallery. They also will split $1 million Lindens, the currency of Second Life.

Quiet on the set

You can pick up the Yves Béhar-designed Jawbone headset at Kirna Zabête or Colette. Made of lacquer on medical-grade plastic, Jawbone retails for $120 and reduces external noise by continuously adapting to the environment.

Buzz off

The Ariat Zip Top shirt has a special finish that repels pesky insects such as bees and flies. It costs $55 and will be available in stores later this month.

Girl Zune

A pink Zune, due out in May, may inspire more girly designers than Stüssy, which pre-loaded a collection for editors on the original version. That launched in the fall for $250 in brown, white and black. Microsoft also plans a special limited edition of 20,000 of the music player in watermelon red, to be sold only at Target.
