Blame designers Sarah Büren and Sonja Hodzode showed polished, feminine separates with a twist. What looked like flower prints were, on closer inspection, quirky cacti and succulents. Arrayed thoughtfully on a ground of rich rust silk, they adorned jackets, ladylike skirts, collarless blouses and shifts. Jackets were draped in kimono collars or cropped, and paired with knit dresses with ribbed hems. Nubby white knit separates were banded in black ribbon — girly in the front but grown-up with an open back — while a slim suit, pencil skirt and full shorts were cut from white summer tweeds flecked with black and bright threads.
