NEW YORK -- The Polyester Council of America and Bloomingdale's are joining forces to promote fashions in polyester and polyester blend fabrics.

In a series of in-store fashion presentations beginning this fall, the events will be hosted by spokeswoman model-author Beverly Johnson. Runway shows from top designers will be staged. Among them are DKNY, Anne Klein II, Jones New York, Adrienne Vittadini, Max Studio and Laundry. Following the fashion shows, Bloomingdale's fashion staffers will conduct workshops for shoppers on putting together a fall wardrobe.

Two events are slated for October: at Bloomingdale's Willow Grove store in Philadelphia on Oct. 1, and in the Washington, D.C., area at its unit in the Mall at White Flint on Oct. 15.

"The fashion industry is taking a second look at polyester fashions because the fiber embodies what modern dressing is all about -- beautiful, luxurious fashion that complements an active lifestyle with practical, easy-care attributes," said a Bloomingdale's spokeswoman.

The Polyester Council of America and Bloomingdale's plan to continue the partnership into 1995.
