LONDON — Burberry is building on its Icons collection, expanding into performance sportswear, loungewear and clothing for evening.

Icons launched last March to mark the company’s 150th anniversary, hitting shop floors in September, and so far has proved to be popular. The collection features accessories and clothing with signature Burberry details, motifs and finishes: quilting, trench D-ring buckles, the Prorsum knight logo and check prints.

The collection was made up chiefly of accessories — and some ready-to-wear — when it got under way and is now growing in new directions.

For fall, the company is launching Burberry Sport, a line of sportswear for men and women that’s performance-oriented and glamorous. The collection is selling out of Burberry’s London and New York showrooms for September and October delivery.
