Fashionably late? Not when it's a party thrown at Anna Wintour's West Village townhouse. The Vogue editrix, along with Carol Hamilton and Diane von Furstenberg, hosted cocktails Thursday night in honor of this year's CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund finalists. And a mere 15 minutes after the start time, Wintour's ground floor was filled with guests like Liya Kebede, Raquel Zimmerman, Erin Fetherston, Chanel Iman, Jacquetta Wheeler, Chloë Sevigny and Elettra Wiedemann.
The 10 fund nominees each had been given a shade from L'Oréal Paris' new Infallible Never Fail Lipcolour collection (and $15,000) as inspiration for a design, and the results were showcased at the party. "I looked up 'infallible' on dictionary.com," explained Phillip Lim of his approach to his apricot hue. "Michelle is infallible," he continued, flattering Michelle Williams, decked out in his ruffled creation.
"We're definitely going on a second date," the blushing actress responded, as she surveyed her surroundings and eyed the shrubbery that lined the walls. "Is it always like this in here?"
Indeed, the plants turned the room into something of a greenhouse. Most guests fanned themselves or sought fresh air in the backyard. But a floral gown-clad Sevigny wasn't complaining. As Philip Crangi's date (and wearing his mulberry-inspired necklace), she was just happy to be paired with the designer.
Waiters passed trays of mini burgers, figs and lobster quesadillas and the party soon moved upstairs to the cooler environs of the second-floor library. All the better for Kanye West to enjoy his Michael Bastian sweater, which was emblazoned with a mirror image of the phrase "Kiss Me," a much appreciated touch.
"I spend a lot of time looking at myself in the mirror," smiled West.
Etro’s show, titled “The Tree of Life,” was a celebration of the house’s 50th anniversary. “My father founded the company in 1968, which was the year of counterculture and psychedelia. It’s really a show that celebrates that and the paisley design of India and its origin,” said Veronica Etro. #wwdfashion #mfw #ss18 (📷: @delphineachard)
