Angelica Cheung, editor in chief of Chinese Vogue, is a nimble fashion diplomat. At a cocktail party Monday night at the Four Seasons, she greeted an army of Italian fashion publicists and assorted Milan glitterati wearing a discreetly chic black coatdress by Dutch design duo Viktor & Rolf.

The event, to promote her nascent title, comes at a time when China's presence at the shows is on the upswing.

Cheung was a pioneering journalist who started covering the European shows about three years ago when she was at Elle China. This season, there are eight Chinese journalists registered with the Camera della Moda, including reps for Vogue, Cosmopolitan Taiwan and Harper's Bazaar Taiwan.

A Chinese model, Sonny Bhou, walked the catwalk for Just Cavalli and Evisu. The 20-year-old hails from Shanghai and signed on with IMG a few months ago. Meanwhile, Ferragamo hosted two Hong Kong beauties, actress and singer Gigi Leung and actress Charlie Young, who came to Milan after presenting her movie "Seven Swords" at the Venice Film Festival.
