NEW YORK — Candie’s just won an American Idol.

Kelly Clarkson, who took the title of “American Idol” last year, will appear as the next Candie’s girl in the fall print ad campaign, running in fashion, entertainment and lifestyle magazines.

Produced by Candie’s in-house creative team, the ads were photographed by Davis Factor and styled by celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, who has worked with the company’s charity organization, The Candie’s Foundation, in the past.

“I am a big fan of Kelly, I have to admit,” Bloch said. “It was so much fun to meet her in person, and it was great working with someone who hasn’t been in this business for so long. I just loved her attitude.”

Bloch said since the primary focal point of the ads were the shoes, he was able to pull clothes from high-end designers. For accessories, Jacob & Co. loaned the company over $1 million worth of diamonds.

“Pulling from YSL and mixing it with Candie’s shoes was so great,” he said.

Clarkson is following such celebrities as Destiny’s Child, Ashanti and Kelly Osbourne, who are past Candie’s spokeswomen. Clarkson’s debut album, “Thankful,” the hit RCA/19 Entertainment release, has been certified platinum and entered the Billboard Top 200 album chart at number one.

“Kelly Clarkson exemplifies who the Candie’s girl is. She is independent and strong minded,” said Neil Cole, chief executive officer of Candie’s Inc. “We find her success story to be extraordinary. She went from being the girl next door to a chart-topping pop star. She is a role model to teenage girls across America.”
