NEW YORK — The Accessories Council held its annual March market party with the Shopping Soiree and cocktail party at Lord & Taylor Wednesday evening.
The event offered a chance for designers and retailers to network in grand style — granted, the Pravda vodka martinis helped.
A silent auction featured prizes such as dinner for 12 prepared by Chef Larry Forgione, a Marc Jacobs handbag and sunglasses and a full-page national ad in In Style, valued at $110,000, which Lynn Roberts, vice president of Echo Design Group, bid on early in the evening.
Many of the attendees praised fall’s strong, trend-heavy, ready-to-wear collections, which ended in Paris that day.
“It’s so exciting to see all the mixed media on the runway,” said Eileen Warner, president of Accessories Design Holdings. “I’m ripping out pages [from newspapers] already.”
Lavelle Olexa, senior vice president of fashion merchandising at L&T, said, “This fall, we’re all going to want flat riding boots.”
By evening’s end, Yosca had beat out the competition for a pair of Missoni sunglasses and the Miriam Haskell company landed the In Style ad for an undisclosed sum.
