Commemorating Danskin’s 125th anniversary, Iconix Brand Group will unveil a collection next week of 10 limited edition styles, redone in luxurious fabrics.

During the last 125 days of the label’s 125th year — from Aug. 29 to Dec. 31 — the Danskin Heritage Collection will be sold exclusively at the Danskin flagship at 159 Columbus Avenue in Manhattan and at danskin.com.

“As we look back through Danskin history, there are certain things we have been selling nonstop for years,” said Carol Hochman, president and chief executive officer of Triumph Apparel Corp., which holds the license to Danskin women’s and girls’ dancewear and activewear. “We wanted to take the key items that have driven us for the last 125 years and immortalize them by putting them in luxury fabrics to make the ultimate version of each piece.”

The 10-piece cashmere and silk collection — in black, gray, red and pink — includes cashmere legwarmers, hot shorts, a wrap sweater, a hooded anorak, a camisole, yoga pants, leggings and a puffer jacket, plus a leotard and bodysuit in silk. The line retails from $75 to $400, and only a few hundred of each piece are being made.

As part of the promotion, Danskin will give away every 125th purchase of any product both at its flagship and online. Iconix does not plan to market the Heritage Collection beyond celebrity placement, Hochman said.
