Known for chronically beautiful clothes inspired by art and architecture, Dawid Tomaszewski delivered 16 darkly elegant looks for fall at Berlin’s Kronprinzenpalais. Many of them gleamed in the dimly lit room, a standout being the fur-collared black wool-cashmere coat that dazzled with diagonals of glittering crystals.
The designer also showed a pair of cropped pants that were gold in front and black in back, as well as new shapes such as a cinched puffer jacket and variations on his signature draped dresses in ochre and pewter, some dipping to reveal fine beading, others falling in delicate layers. Designs like these deserved a spotlight, not shadows.
