Jean Paul Gaultier, who has had men in skirts and a mermaid on crutches parading his runway, has few boundaries. And so he ended his raucous and sexy fall show with a dramatic catfight that started on the stage— set like a sleek bordello— and ended in a pool of mud. In one corner was model Coco Rocha, who once did a Highland fling down a Gaultier catwalk. In the other was Serbian actress-cum-model Bojana Panic, who definitely had the upper hand: She was the chosen victor and their battle was rehearsed. While the stunt fell flat with some, ultimately cheers erupted.
“I was really nervous that the audience wouldn’t get it,” Rocha related. “When we started, I didn’t know if people thought we were having a brawl or something, then after a while I started to hear laughter and clapping and was able to enjoy it more.” The moral of this story? Fashion is worth fighting for.
Alberta Ferretti's "Rainbow Week" sweaters are back. The designer closed her #MFW show with a few day-of-the-week sweaters, which first debuted on the catwalk last January as part of the pre-fall 2017 collection. #wwdfashion (📷: @delphineachard)
